Case filed on March 31, 2022
The submission date for the investigation report in the case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) against former chief justice Surendra Kumar (SK) Sinha and his brother Anant Kumar Sinha has been postponed.
The court has now set August 4 as the new date for submitting the report.
After a hearing on Monday, Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain fixed the new date.
Previously, the report was due on Monday, but the ACC could not submit it, prompting the judge to reschedule.
The case was filed by ACC Deputy Director Gulshan Anwar Pradhan on March 31, 2022, at the Integrated District Office-1 of the ACC after discovering a three-storied house in the United States linked to SK Sinha.
It has been revealed that SK Sinha, during his tenure as chief justice, smuggled variously earned money, including through hundi and other illegal means, to the United States. He transferred this money to his younger brother Narendra Kumar Sinha, who then bought a house in New Jersey for $280,000.
