Measures to strengthen cyber monitoring

Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun urged the public not to listen to rumours, emphasizing that there are groups attempting to disrupt the country's peace and communal harmony.

Speaking to reporters after a security inspection at the police control room for Bishwa Ijtema in Tongi, Gazipur, he said that these groups aim to create instability by sowing discord between communities.

He highlighted the security measures in place for the event, mentioning the deployment of units such as the bomb disposal unit, SWAT team, dog squad, and more for patrolling.

“Additionally, the security plan includes the installation of CCTV cameras, IP cameras, night vision cameras, watch towers, and a sufficient number of uniformed and plainclothes officers. The safety plan also accounts for the security of VIPs and VVIPs attending the event,” he added.

Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun emphasized the coordination with various intelligence agencies for information, and measures to strengthen cyber monitoring and patrolling to prevent the spread of misleading posts on social media.

He assured that the police force is well-prepared to handle any situation, having briefed and trained the personnel for their duties during the Ijtema.

The security plan extends beyond the Ijtema ground, covering the Dhaka Metropolitan Police area, Gazipur Metropolitan Police, and Dhaka district, with collaboration among various units, including RAB, Tourist Police, Naval Police, and Armed Police Battalions.
