The Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has announced a mourning and solidarity rally on Wednesday at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka, following the killing of a lawyer on the Chittagong court premises.
The movement made the announcement in a post on its verified Facebook page on Tuesday, urging the public to join the rally.
Earlier on Tuesday, clashes erupted outside the Chittagong court after bail was denied for Chinmoy Krishna Das, spokesperson for the Sanatan Jagaran Jote.
His followers held a protest at the court, leading to the confrontation.
Amid the chaos, Saiful Islam Alif, 35, an assistant public prosecutor, was killed.
Law enforcement has yet to issue a statement on who is responsible for his death.
Chinmoy was detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Monday afternoon.
Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner Kazi Md Tarek Aziz said Chinmoy was facing a sedition case filed at Kotwali police station and had been shown arrested in this case.
It stems from a rally organized by the Sanatan Jagaran Jote at Chittagong's Laldighi Maidan on October 25.
The case, filed on October 30, names Chinmoy and 19 others as accused.
