Chief Prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam has sent a letter to the inspector general of police (IGP), requesting action to issue a red notice through Interpol for former prime minister Sheikh Hasina in connection with an International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) case.

This information was confirmed by the tribunal's prosecution agency on Tuesday.

On November 10, after overseeing the reform work of the International Crimes Tribunal, Law Affairs Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul told reporters that the government would take all necessary steps to bring back Sheikh Hasina and other fugitives accused in the July-August genocide case filed with the ICT.

The interim government is set to issue a Red Notice through Interpol to bring the fugitives to trial, he added.

On October 17, the International Crimes Tribunal issued arrest warrants for Sheikh Hasina, Obaidul Quader, and 46 others in separate cases related to the genocide and crimes against humanity committed in July-August.
