The Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has asked banks to provide account details of journalist Munni Saha.

It also ordered banks and non-bank financial institutions to submit details on savings, current, Fixed Deposit Receipt (FDR) and Deposit Plus Scheme (DPS) accounts under her name, organisations, or companies within the next five business days.

However, the five-day deadline ends tomorrow (October 7).

Munni Saha was the head of ATN News. After the fall of Sheikh Hasina's Awami League, some pro-government journalists were accused of committing various crimes.

The journalists include Mozammel Babu, Nabanita Chowdhury, Subhash Singh Roy, Tushar Abdullah, Saiful Alam, Naeem Nizam, Farida Yasmin, Shyamol Dutta, Abden Khan, Prabash Amin, Farzana Rupa, Shakil Ahmed, Mithila Farzana, Zayadul Ahsan Pintu, Monjurul Islam, Ashish Saikat, Manash Ghosh, Pranab Saha, Masuda Bhatti, JE Mamun, Swadesh Roy, Soma Islam, Shyamal Sarkar, and Ajay Das.

Earlier on September 16, MD of Ekattor TV Mozammel Babu and the editor of Bhorer Kagoj Shyamal Dutta were detained while trying to illegally enter India.

On August 21, Ekattor TV’s chief news editor Shakil Ahmed and principal correspondent Farzana Rupa were detained at the Dhaka airport when trying to flee the country. The court later placed them on a five-day remand in connection with a murder case.
