An electric short-circuit is believed to have sparked the fire
At least seven members of a family, including two children, have died in a massive fire at a two-story building in Mumbai.
The incident took place at around 5am in Chembur's Sidharth Colony, said the officials on Sunday (October 6), reports NDTV.
The fire broke out in a shop on the ground floor that housed electrical items and spread to the upper floor where the family resided, officials said.
The victims have been identified as Paris Gupta, 7, Narendra Gupta, 10, Manju Prem Gupta, 30, Anita Gupta, 39, Prem Gupta, 30, Vidhi Gupta, 15, and Geeta Gupta, 60.
They were rushed to the hospital with severe burns but succumbed to their injuries.
