Crossing border to smuggle phensedyl into India

Two Bangladeshis sustained injuries in BSF firing at the Daulatpur border of Benapole, Sharsha in Jessore.

The incident occurred around 10pm on Tuesday when members of the Kalyani BSF camp in India fired rubber bullets across the Daulatpur BGB camp.

The victims, Babu Mia, 32, son of Deen Islam from Daulatpur village of Benapole Port police station, and Dalim Hossain, 32, son of Barkat Ali from the same village, were wounded by BSF gunfire.

After rescuing the injured from the border, BGB personnel took them into custody and provided medical treatment.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad Khurshid Anwar, the commanding officer of the 21 BGB battalion, said that Babu and Dalim crossed the Daulatpur border to smuggle phensedyl into India. The Indian Kalyani BSF camp opened fire on them approximately 25 yards inside India near the 182 R Pillar of 17/7S border. As a result, both individuals suffered injuries to their legs and eyes.

Anwar added that BGB patrol teams retrieved the injured and brought them to the camp for medical attention. Once they recover, they will be handed over to the local police station.
