Two commanders of the separatist group Arsa (Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army) have been killed and one injured in a clash in a Rohingya camp in Ukhiya, Cox's Bazar.

The incident occurred near a mosque in the camp on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were Imam Hossain, 37, and Rahmat Ullah, 25. The injured individual is Mohammad Abdullah, 31.

According to Mohammad Iqbal, additional deputy inspector general of the 14 Armed Police Battalion (APBn) responsible for camp security, the incident took place when Arsa commanders Imam and Rahmat, along with others, were present near the mosque. At one point, 20 to 30 individuals from a nearby camp suddenly entered and opened fire on them. The assailants then fled the scene.

Imam and Rahmat died on the spot. Meanwhile, residents rescued the injured person and took him to a nearby hospital.

The police later arrived at the scene and recovered the bodies of the two deceased individuals.

The APBn official further stated that the two deceased were Arsa commanders from Myanmar and faced multiple charges in murder, abduction, and extortion cases.

The police believe that the killings were a result of a power struggle within the Rohingya camp.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Cox's Bazar district hospital morgue for autopsy.
