BNP is the party of killers, he says Urged BNP leaders not to mislead people through lies

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has accused that BNP leaders are threatening to kill party’s leaders and activists through carrying out an ill-attempt to create terror and anarchy in the country and by distorting the universally accepted truth.

“Awami League has never been involved in the politics of killing, and BNP is the party of killers,” he made the remark in a statement issued on Wednesday signed by Awami League office secretary Barrister Biplab Barua.

Quader urged the BNP leaders including Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir not to mislead the people through lies.

"Sheikh Hasina is inaugurating one mega project after another for the welfare of the country’s people, which has caused heart-burning to BNP leaders,” he said in the statement adding that that is why BNP leaders are threatening to shut down Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

While they were in state power, BNP did not make any progress, instead, the party was dipped in corruption and destroyed the country's image becoming world champion in corruption five times in a row, said Quader, also road, transport and bridges minister.

Addressing the BNP, he said that they are consistently making false statements about mega projects like Padma Bridge, Metrorail, Elevated Expressway, Bangabandhu Tunnel under Karnaphuli River, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant.

Nuclear energy is being used for human welfare today in developed countries of the world, including America and Europe. Apart from Bangladesh, there are 438 nuclear power plants in 32 countries of the world, he said.

Besides, 10% of the electricity generated in the whole world comes from nuclear power, mentioned Quader, adding that it is highly eco-friendly due to zero carbon emissions.

BNP does not like this type of environmentally friendly and cost-effective power generation, he said.

The country’s people know that the tools of their politics are rumours, lies and propaganda, Quader said.

He urged BNP to avoid the tendency to divert the things of political humour in other fields and to apologize to the people for falsehood beyond political etiquette.

In the statement, Awami League General Secretary said that BNP is born with an anti-democracy and anti-development mindset. Honesty, patriotism, strong leadership and self-confidence which are required to move a nation forward, there is no political practice of such a thing in the BNP.

They have been continuously campaigning against the development of the country and spreading disinformation, he further added.

He said that constructive criticism is expected as an opposition party. There is no disgraceful example elsewhere in the world like BNP’s sarcasm with development projects and dirty conspiracy through lies, rumors and propaganda to mislead the people of the country in times of crisis.
