Teknaf residents living in fear as gunshots heard from Myanmar

Firing was heard till 11am
Residents in the border area in Teknaf are living in fear as gunshots were heard from inside Myanmar again on Tuesday morning.
Firing was heard from around 8am to 11am, locals have said.
Following the incident, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is in a cautious position to prevent any infiltration through the border.
Shahin Alam, a resident of the Whykong border area the people area are terrified as the sound of gunshots has been heard intermittently since the morning.
Whykong Union Parishad Chairman Nur Ahmed Anwari said gunshots were heard across the Naf River and people have been asked to remain vigilant. “We are also in a cautious position so that no people can enter Bangladesh through the border.”
Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Mohiuddin Ahmed, commander of the Teknaf-based 2nd Battalion of BGB said: "I have received news of firing in some places along the border. However, the firing on the border has decreased compared to other days. So far, 137 Rohingyas have been resisted.”
Amidst this volatile situation, 230 members of Myanmar’s Border Guard Police (BGP) fled across the Ghumdum border, seeking refuge in Bangladesh between February 4 and 7.
Subsequently, they were placed under the supervision of the BGB.
