Sust now allows iftar parties on campus

Personal funds must be used


The authorities of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (Sust) have changed their decision and said anyone concerned with the university can organize Iftar parties with their own funding on campus. 

Acting Registrar of the university, Md Fazlur Rahman, explained the university’s previous directive and made the new announcement on Tuesday. 

A notification was also issued in this regard. 

On Monday, the authorities imposed a ban on organizing iftar parties at the campus during Ramadan.

This instruction was given in a press release signed by the acting registrar.

The notification said: "In view of the directives of the prime minister, all concerned of this university have been requested not to organize any iftar parties on the campus during the upcoming month of Ramadan."

Copies of the notification were sent to all the concerned offices including the treasurer of the university, deans of various faculties, heads of departments, directors of various institutes, library administrators, proctors, director of accounts, controller of examinations.

Earlier on February 28, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina instructed not to organize large Iftar parties at the government level during the upcoming Ramadan.
