Six-member inquiry committee formed

The investigation committee of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment has asked for information on the workers who could not go to Malaysia within the stipulated time on May 31 despite receiving the employment permit and BMET smart card from the ministry.

The information was given in a public notice published by the expatriate welfare ministry on Tuesday.

According to the notification, a six-member inquiry committee headed by the additional secretary of the expatriate welfare ministry Noor Md Mahbubul Haque has been formed to identify the reasons for the failure to send workers to Malaysia within the specified period.

The notification also said that those who wish to go to Malaysia and could not visit the country, should submit the necessary information (name, full address, mobile number, name of recruiting agency, passport number, copy of BMET smart card and proof of complaint) to [email protected] by June 8.

The investigation committee has also requested to file the complaint within the stipulated time in the e-mail.

State Minister for Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Shafiqur Rahman Chowdhury said that disciplinary action will be taken against the guilty in the light of the findings of the report.
