Thieves rape woman in Khulna gluing her eyes

A woman was raped by thieves at Rauli village in Khulna's Paikgachha upazila early Monday.

The rape survivor’s family said on Sunday night, some unidentified men entered the bedroom of the woman breaking the door of the stairs. Later, they tied the hands and feet of the housewife, glued her eyes and covered her mouth with tape before violating her. 

The rapists also hit her, they said.

The thieves fled with a pair of gold earrings and approximately Tk2 lakh, family members claimed.

Hearing her screams, the neighbours came and informed her husband.

The victim's husband said that his wife was unable to speak as the rapists put super glue on her eyes and mouth. "So it is not possible to say how many thieves were there," he added.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (D-Circle) Md Saiful Islam said that they visited the spot after receiving the information.

Obaidur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Paikgachha police station, said they rescued the housewife with her hands and feet tied.

"It is not possible to say whether she was raped. We visited the spot, and a high-level investigation has started," added the officer.
