A Comilla court sent Jagannath University student Amman Siddique to jail after his two days remand in a case filed over instigating law student Fairuz Sadaf Abontika's suicide.

Senior Judicial Magistrate of Comilla Abu Bakr Siddique gave this order on Wednesday.

The matter was confirmed by Rafiqul Islam Hira, the assistant counsel for the state side of the case.

Amman Siddique was brought to the court at 1pm under the security of a team of about 10 police personnel. At that time, he was wearing a mask.

Lawyer Rafiqul Islam Hira said: "The court has sent Amman Siddique to jail. Apart from this, the investigating officer said that important information has been found during his remand period. The investigation report is expected to be submitted by Sunday.”

After arresting Amman and former assistant proctor Deen Islam on Sunday night, Dhaka Metropolitan Police handed them over to Comilla Kotwali Model police station. Fairuz's mother Tahmina Shabnam filed a case against them at Kotwali Model police station in Comilla.

The police applied to the court seeking remand of Amman for five days and assistant proctor Deen Islam for two days.

The court granted two days remand for Amman and assistant proctor Deen Islam for one day.

Fairuz Abontika, a student of the 2017-18 academic year of the JnU law department, was found dead at her Comilla residence after she accused her classmate Amman and teacher Deen Islam in a Facebook post at around 10pm on Friday.

In the post, Abontika had claimed that Amman and Assistant Proctor Din Islam would be responsible for her death.
