PM Hasina condemns attack on Donald Trump

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday condemned the attack on former US President Donald Trump at an election rally.

She expressed deep sorrow over the incident, calling it extremely unfortunate for a democratic country like the United States.

"Why would such a thing happen in a civilized country like America?” questioned the premier.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud said that Bangladesh strongly condemned the attack incident.

Donald Trump was hit in the ear in an apparent assassination attempt by a gunman at a campaign rally on Saturday, in a chaotic and shocking incident that will fuel fears of instability ahead of the 2024 US presidential election.

The 78-year-old former president was rushed off stage with blood smeared across his face after the shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, while the gunman and a bystander were killed and two spectators critically injured.
