Which division dominates the new cabinet?

25 ministers and 11 state ministers besides PM


Dhaka division has the largest number of members in the new cabinet of 37 members – it has 15 ministers or state ministers, including the prime minister.

Chittagong Division has the second most cabinet members, with nine, after Dhaka Division.

Apart from this, there are three members from Sylhet division and two each from Barisal, Khulna, Mymensingh, Rajshahi and Rangpur divisions.

Dhaka division’s 15 cabinet members are:

Sheikh Hasina (Gopalganj-3), AKM Mozammel Haque (Gazipur-1), Asaduzzaman Khan (Dhaka-12), Muhammad Faruk Khan (Gopalganj-1), Saber Hossain Chowdhury (Dhaka-9), Jahangir Kabir Nanak (Dhaka-13), Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun (Narsingdi-4), Md Abdur Rahman (Faridpur-1), Simeen Hussain (Rimi) (Gazipur-4), Nazmul Hassan (Kishoreganj-6), Nasrul Hamid (Dhaka-3), Mohammad Ali Arafat (Dhaka-17), Rumana Ali (Gazipur-3), Md Zillul Hakim (Rajbari-2) and Ahsanul Islam Titu (Tangail-6).

Chittagong division’s nine cabinet members are: 

Obaidul Quader (Noakhali-5), Hasan Mahmud (Chittagong-7), Dipu Moni (Chandpur-3), Md Tazul Islam (Comilla-9), Anisul Huq (Brahmanbaria-4), RAM Obaidul Muktadir Chowdhury (Brahmanbaria-3), Yeafesh Osman (technocrat), Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury (Chittagong-9) and Kujendra Lal Tripura (Khagrachhari).

Sylhet division’s three cabinet members are:

Md Abdus Shahid (Moulvibazar-4), Shofiqur Rahman Choudhury (Sylhet-2) and Samanta Lal Sen (technocrat).

Barisal division’s two cabinet members are:

Zaheed Farooque (Barisal-5) and Md Mohibbur Rahman (Patuakhali-4).

Khulna division’s two cabinet members are:

Narayon Chandra Chanda (Khulna-5) and Farhad Hossain (Meherpur-1).

Rajshahi division’s two cabinet members are:

Sadhan Chandra Majumder (Naogaon-1) and Zunaid Ahmed Palak (Natore-3).

Rangpur division’s two cabinet members are:

Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali (Dinajpur-4) and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury (Dinajpur-2).

Apart from Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the new cabinet will have 25 ministers and 11 state ministers. The new cabinet will take the oath of office at Bangabhaban at 7pm on Thursday. The oath will be administered by President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
