The leaders said: “Syed Muhammad Ibrahim has taken government benefits in the name of movement in a multi-dimensional form. By deciding to participate in the illegal elections of the fascist government, he has done injustice to the country, the people, and the freedom fighters.”

Jatiya Gonotantrik Party (JAGPA) Vice-President Rashed Pradhan said: “In the emergency meeting of the alliance on Wednesday, it was decided to expel Bangladesh Kalyan Party Chairman Major General (Retd.) Syed Muhammad Ibrahim and Muslim League Chairman Advocate Zulfiqar Bulbul Chowdhury from the 12-party alliance.”

The leaders said: “Ibrahim's role can be compared to that of Rasputin. In this difficult time of the country, his dishonesty with the people will be considered as a Mirzafar and a traitor in the future.”

Alliance spokesperson Shahadat Hossain Salim said: “The unity of the 12-party alliance is unbreakable and we are united in the fight for democracy. Rather, the leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Welfare Party and Muslim League have disobeyed the decision of their party leader and expressed their determination to stay with us.
