Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus today urged people to keep patience and promised a polls roadmap as soon as electoral reforms are carried out.
In his address to the nation marking 100 days of the interim government, he also said that the election may be delayed by a few months to accommodate those reforms.
The chief adviser also said his government wants to create an election system that will be followed for ages.
Yunus said that several reform commissions are working and hoped that they will submit their reports within the scheduled time, between December and January.
After getting the reports, the government will continuously hold discussions with political parties regarding these recommendations.
"The reform proposals will be finalised based on everyone's consensus," he said.
The question of when the next election will be held is on everyone's mind, Yunus said, adding, "It is also always on our minds."
The government has started taking necessary steps to arrange the elections. The new election commission will be formed in a few days, the chief adviser said.
He said the election train has started its journey and will not stop.
"But as we move forward, we need to complete a lot of work. The train will reach its final station depending on how quickly we can lay down the railway tracks, and this will happen through consensus among the political parties," he added.
Discussions on the recommendations of other reform commissions will continue, he said.
