Rishab Shetty fans are in for exciting news as the highly anticipated "Kantara: A Legend Chapter 1," penned, directed, and led by Rishab himself—is gearing up for its grand theatrical release next year, on October 2. This film serves as the prequel to the acclaimed "Kantara," which previously clinched a prestigious National Award.

The filmmakers unveiled the release date with a striking poster on Instagram. The artwork features Rishab Shetty in a fierce portrayal, gripping an axe in one hand and a trident in the other.

Sporting a shirtless look with flowing hair and a rugged beard, Rishab Shetty exudes an aura of sheer dominance and mystique in the poster. The accompanying caption declared, "The moment has arrived. The divine forest whispers. 'Kantara Chapter 1' releasing worldwide on October 2, 2025."

The prequel is set to hit theatres in multiple languages, including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali, Hindi, and English.

Rishab Shetty was honoured with the coveted Best Actor title at the 70th National Film Awards for his stellar performance in the debut instalment of the "Kantara" series. Adding to its accolades, the film was also recognised as the Best Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment, cementing its place as a cinematic triumph.

In August, Rishab Shetty shared his heartfelt appreciation for receiving the National Award. Reflecting on the milestone, he stated, "This recognition for 'Kantara' fills me with immense joy and gratitude. I owe this achievement to the extraordinary team of artistes, technicians, and, most importantly, Hombale Films, who brought this vision to life.

Rishab Shetty credited the audience for the success of "Kantara," expressing his gratitude with a heartfelt note. "The complete support from viewers has shaped this film into what it is today, and it inspires me to push my boundaries even further. I dedicate this award with deep respect to our Kannada audience, the Daiva Nartakas, and the late Appu sir. This achievement is a blessing from the Daivas, and I remain eternally grateful for their guidance," he shared.

Set in the fictional village of Dakshina Kannada, "Kantara", released in 2022, tells an enthralling story rooted in tradition and conflict. The film follows a Kambala champion, portrayed by Rishab Shetty, as he finds himself in a gripping confrontation with a forest office.

The film features an outstanding cast, including Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, and Prakash Thuminad, among others.

For audiences who missed its theatrical run, "Kantara" is available for streaming on Netflix and Prime Video.
