Had many discussions with US delegation, says Quader
Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has said that the ruling party will consider holding dialogue on free, fair and participatory polls if the opposition BNP withdraws the conditions.
He said these things in a press conference organized in his office at the Secretariat on Sunday.
Regarding the five-point recommendations of the US pre-election observation team to make the upcoming national elections free, acceptable and participatory, Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said: "We have had many discussions with the monitoring team."
“BNP wants the resignation of the prime minister, dissolution of Parliament, abolition of the Election Commission, election under caretaker government. Most importantly, BNP wants the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. There can be no dialogue under these conditions,” he added.
"If the conditions are withdrawn, discussion and dialogue can take place,” said Quader.
There was no talk about dialogue when the US delegation discussed with the Awami League, he said.
“I don't understand from where they brought the dialogue issue. Elections are our own business. They (foreign nations) can come up with recommendations as friendly countries,” Quader added further
