Admission process halted in six medical colleges

Registration of two medical colleges was cancelled
The health authorities have decided to halt the admission process for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) students in six medical colleges in Bangladesh.
Of them, registration of two medical colleges has been cancelled while the admission process has been suspended in four.
Director General of Medical Education Prof Dr Md Titu Miah disclosed the information at a press conference at the Sheikh Hasina Institute of National Burn and Plastic Surgery on Thursday morning.
The director general said: “The admission process has been suspended as the medical colleges could not maintain the standard.”
The medical colleges are - Uttara Aichi Medical College, Northern Medical, Northern Medical, Shah Makhdum Medical College, CARE Medical College and Nightingale Medical College. Among these, the registrations of CARE Medical College and Savar’s Nightingale Medical Colleges have been cancelled.
When asked about United Medical College, Director General of Medical Education Prof Dr Md Titu Miah said: “Hospital is not that much important for the first year medical students. Decision will be made about United Medical College after the legal process.”
The entry test for MBBS will commence on Friday. The test will be held from 10am to 11am simultaneously at 19 centres of 44 venues across the country. A total of 104,374 applicants will compete for seats in the medical college admission test this year.
