First dedicated Hajj flight returns to Bangladesh with 417 pilgrims

85,252 pilgrims went to Saudi Arabia for Hajj
The first dedicated Hajj flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines returned to Dhaka with 417 pilgrims on Thursday.
According to information from the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Hajj Management Portal, the official return journey for Hajj 2024 commenced with this flight and flights will continue until July 22.
For this year's Hajj, the first flight carrying 415 pilgrims departed for Mecca on May 9, with the last flight departing on June 12.
A total of 218 flights transported 85,257 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia. Among them, 4,562 pilgrims travelled under government management and 80,695 under private management.
Although the quota for Hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh was 127,198, it was not met due to lower registration numbers.
In 2024, 31 Bangladeshi pilgrims passed away while performing Hajj, of whom 25 were men and six were women. Among them, 24 died in Mecca, four in Medina, one in Jeddah and two in Mina.
