Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (Rajuk) has ordered the sealing of 12 restaurants in Gawsia Twin Peak building on Sat Masjid Road in Dhanmondi.

Rajuk Executive Magistrate Tazina Sarwar announced this decision after raiding the building on Monday afternoon.

Earlier, the executive magistrate ordered the demolition of two structures on the roof of the building.

After the operation, Tajina Sarwar told reporters: “This building has been approved in F-1 category. According to that category, the building can be used as an office. But we observed that only part of two floors were allocated as offices during the inspection. In the remaining parts, 12 to 15 restaurants have been rented out in violation of the rules. The mobile court of Rajuk has come on the raid due to violation of the rules.”

He also said: "We are only sealing the restaurants."

On the night of February 29, 46 people, including women and children, died in a fire at Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road. The bodies of 44 of them have been handed over so far. The bodies of the remaining two have been kept in the Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue.

On Sunday night, the police started raids on restaurants in different areas of Dhaka. Rajuk went on a raid on Monday.
