Four states have recently recognized Palestine as an independent state
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has expressed gratitude to the heads of four nations for their historic decision to recognize the State of Palestine.
The countries are Spain, Slovenia, Norway, and Ireland.
Sheikh Hasina sent letters to Pedro Sánchez Pérez-Castejón, president of Spain, Robert Golob, prime minister of Slovenia, Jonas Gahor Store, prime minister of Norway and Simon Harris, prime Minister of Ireland expressing deep appreciation and gratitude for their support for the rights of the Palestinian people.
“This great gesture underscores your unwavering support for the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and positions your great nation on the right side of history during the critical juncture,” said the letters.
“As you are aware, regarding this issue, our principled position is in favour of the two-state solution through the establishment of an independent, viable, and sovereign Palestinian state as per the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.”
“Guided by the vision of the Father of our Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and as per our Constitutional obligations, Bangladesh has consistently supported oppressed peoples around the globe, in their just struggles for self-determination. Our fight for independence and the harrowing experience of enduring the worst form of genocide in 1971, have inspired us to stand against the injustices and oppression faced by the Palestinian people since the very beginning of our statehood. We continue to advocate for an immediate resolution to this protracted crisis,” said the letters.
