Scheduled for Tuesday, the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) failed to meet the deadline, prompting Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbubul Haque to reschedule the submission for May 16.

Maasranga Television News Editor Sagar Sarowar and ATN Bangla Senior Reporter Meherun Runi were killed on February 11, 2012.

Following the incident, Runi's brother filed a murder case with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station.

Initially, the investigating officer of the case was a sub-inspector (SI) of that police station.

After four days, the case was handed over to the Detective Branch of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

Detectives failed to solve the mystery after over two months of investigation. Later, on the order of the High Court, RAB was tasked with probing the murders on April 18 of the same year.

Despite multiple deadlines, RAB has yet to conclude its investigation and submit a report.

There are eight accused in the case including Runi's friend Tanveer Rahman. The other accused are security guards at the building that housed the couple’s flat Enam Ahmed alias Humayun Kabir, Rafiqul Islam, Bakul Mia, Mintu alias Bargira Mintu alias Masum Mintu, Kamrul Hasan Arun, Palash Rudra Pal, Tanveer and Abu Saeed.
