Uncapped wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali Anik has replaced the underperforming Liton Das in the Bangladesh squad for the third and final One Day International against visitors Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s national selection panel Saturday declared the squad for the series deciding game.

The series is currently locked at 1-1 following the Lankans’ victory in the second ODI by three wickets Friday.

In the first two ODIs, Liton was dismissed for nought and in his last 10 ODIs, he only managed 158 runs with a highest score of 45 against Pakistan in the 2023 Cricket World Cup in October.

“With the series now hanging in the balance, we believe Jaker’s addition will provide the team with more options and flexibility in the middle-order,” said Gazi Ashraf Hossain, chairman of the national selection panel, in a media release.

“Considering Liton's recent performance in white-ball cricket, we opted for this change, mindful of the availability of two other capable openers within the squad,” he added.

The 26-year old Jaker made an impressive start to his international career and averages 55 after six appearances in Twenty20 matches.

He has close to 2,000 runs from 84 List A games where he is averaging 35.
