He said these things in response to a question from the journalists at the opening ceremony of the “Database and Analysis of Road Crash (DARC) Software” training organized at the DMP headquarters on Wednesday.
He said: "The conspirator and planner of this murder is now out of the country. He could not be arrested. The motive for this murder will be known only if he is arrested.”
As the main accused is absconding in America. Bangladesh does not have a prisoner exchange agreement with the country. In response to the question of what method will be adopted to return the accused person in this case, the commissioner said: "In this case, the police will make the best effort that needs to be done."
“Since Anar was an MP. So, his issue will be treated with utmost importance. Although we don't have that kind of contract with them (the US). Every effort will be made through any other medium or diplomatic channel in this regard,” he added.
In response to the question whether the prisoner exchange agreement with India will be used in this case, Habibur Rahman said: "You know that this incident can be tried under the laws of Bangladesh and India both. So, it can be decided through our mutual discussion.”
