A Sirajganj court on Monday placed the teacher who shot a student inside a class on a five-day remand.
Judge Billal Hossain of the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court-1 in Sirajgan passed the order on Monday.
Sirajganj Detective Branch (DB) Sub-Inspector Ibrahim Hossain, also the investigation officer of the case, said they had sought a seven-day remand for interrogating Dr Raihan Sharif, a lecturer in the community medicine department at Shaheed M Mansur Ali Medical College and Hospital.
After hearing the petition, the court granted a five-day remand, he added.
On March 6, Dr Raihan Sharif was suspended for shooting Arafat Amin Tomal, 23, a third-year student, inside a classroom.
The incident, which has sparked widespread condemnation, led to the formation of a three-member investigation committee by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The committee visited the medical college to examine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
