Various govt officials appointed as caretakers
The court has appointed caretakers for the immovable assets held in the names of former IGP Benazir Ahmed and his family members.
The caretakers are appointed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and the Anti-Corruption Commission Rules.
Dhaka Metropolitan Court's Senior Special Judge Mohammad As-Shams Jaglul Hossain passed the order on Sunday.
Who are the caretakers?
Deputy director of Agriculture Extension Department and District Fisheries officer of Gopalganj for proper control, management, supervision and maintenance of immovable property located in Gopalganj and Madaripur, deputy commissioner of Cox's Bazar for properties in Cox's Bazar, upazila nirbahi officer of Shibchar for properties in that upazila, of Madaripur, Savar upazila nirbahi officer for properties in Savar.
The director of the asset management unit of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) head office has been appointed as caretaker for the four apartments located in Gulshan, Dhaka.
In the order, the court directed the district commissioner and superintendent of police of the concerned district to provide all legal and administrative assistance to the appointed caretaker.
The order also said that the appointed caretaker should inform the court every two months of the income and expenditure account of the property mentioned in the schedule, deposit the earned money in the scheduled bank and all the information including the income and expenditure account of the money collected excluding service charge, should be submitted to the court every six months as per the ACC law and regulations.
Apart from this, the director and deputy director of ACC located in the concerned department and district are directed to monitor and supervise the proper maintenance and management activities of the properties.
