The water of rivers is not just a political issue, it also involves diplomacy and economics, the Adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change and the Ministry of Water Resources, Syeda Rizwana Hassan, has said.

“I have come to see the problems through the eyes of the people. I want to understand what solutions they seek. Locals have reported being severely affected by flooding due to the cutting of the dam by a neighboring country,” Rizwana said.

She made the comments during her visit to the Ballarmukh dam, which was cut by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Kalikapur, Mirzanagar, Parshuram in Feni.

Syeda Rizwana Hassan added that the era of silence with India has ended. “Any previous silence or inaction at the government level is now behind us.”

The event was attended by Feni's Deputy Commissioner Shahina Akhtar, Superintendent of Police Habibur Rahman, and other government officials.

In the afternoon, the adviser will also participate in a public hearing to discuss measures addressing the recent flooding and erosion.
