Adviser: Legal action imminent for attacks on religious minorities

Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain has said miscreants who were involved in attacks on places of worship of religious minorities will be brought to justice under the law.
He was speaking at a press briefing at the Secretariat on Monday.
The religious affairs adviser said that the government has received several complaints regarding attacks on the homes and places of worship of minorities.
Strongly condemning the attacks, he said the Ministry of Religious Affairs has always stood by religious minorities and will continue to do so in the future.
Khalid Hossain further mentioned that a list of the damages to places of worship and other properties is being collected through district commissioners.
A letter will be sent to the district commissioners regarding this matter on Monday.
In coordination with the Ministry of Finance, a decision on how much assistance can be provided to the victims will be made by Tuesday, he said.
The Religious Affairs Adviser also stated that the chief adviser will meet with leaders of religious minorities on Tuesday.
Additionally, the Ministry of Religious Affairs is working to launch a hotline by the end of the day. If information about attacks on religious minorities is reported on this number, action will be taken through the Ministry of Home Affairs.
