Electricity supply disrupted following fire at Sylhet power plant

Power supply has been disrupted in some parts of Sylhet city as a fire broke out at the Kumargaon Power Plant.
The fire broke out around 9:15am on Monday and was brought under control around 10:30am by the fire service.
According to Power Division sources, the fire broke out in an abandoned air filter of the water treatment plant of Kumargaon 225MW Power Plant.
Mohammad Abdul Kadir, chief engineer of Sylhet divisional Bangladesh Power Development Board, said the power plant was saved from a major accident.
Meanwhile, Sylhet City Corporation Mayor Anwaruzzaman Chowdhury visited the power plant after receiving the news.
"Allah Almighty has saved us from a great danger. The fire was brought under control with the help of local people, including fire service personnel," he said.
