BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has expressed deep concern about and criticized the detaining of BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury at a Gulshan house early on Friday.

Rizvi in a statement emphasized that the leadership of BNP remains unshaken.

“The movement will be led by the last BNP member who would remain out of jail. The people are resolute in implementing a non-partisan neutral government system during the election, including the government's resignation through this movement.”

Rizvi criticized the Awami government for its unilateral steps to hold the 12th national parliamentary election, which he claimed aimed to undermine state power.

He accused the government of engaging in a deplorable game by imprisoning the BNP's top leaders.

Rizvi highlighted the arrests of BNP leaders and their subsequent remand for eight to 10 days, accompanied by severe torture.

According to Rizvi, the ruling party's actions stem from fear, particularly concerning the BNP's blockade program.

He challenged the government's strategy, stating that the BNP, as the country's largest and most popular political party, enjoys unwavering public support.

“No government strategy to suppress the movement will succeed,” he added.

Rizvi urgently called for the unconditional release of Khasru.
