Agriculture Minister: Corruption will not be tolerated

Highlighted importance of bringing fallow, uncultivated land under cultivation


Agriculture Minister Dr Md Abdus Shahid warned that corruption will not be tolerated in the Ministry of Agriculture.

He made this remark at a public reception and dinner at the district council auditorium in Srimangal upazila of Moulvibazar district Friday night.

Bangladesh Dairy Farmers’ Association (BDFA) organized the event as the seven-time elected Member of Parliament from Srimangal and Kamalganj upazila Dr Abdus Shahid was appointed as agriculture minister. Srimangal and Kamalganj upazila Awami League cooperated in the event.

The minister emphasized the need for collective efforts, urging everyone to work together to encourage increased crop cultivation.

He highlighted the importance of bringing fallow or uncultivated land under cultivation through motivation.

Dr Abdus Shahid expressed his commitment to getting closer to farmers, conducting yard meetings, understanding their challenges, setting priorities, and initiating solutions.

He stressed the significance of advanced planning to boost production, citing the need to prevent sudden market fluctuations and maintain control over prices.

The minister pledged to return to Dhaka promptly with ministry officials to engage in discussions and determine priorities for increasing agricultural production.

He further said: “Wherever we go abroad, people appreciate the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Recently, I have visited several countries and everywhere I have heard praises of the prime minister's leadership. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is the main architect because of whom Bangladesh has risen to a place of honour in the world today.”
