There is no link between anyone’s crime and RAB's image, says new DG

Regarding the corruption of former RAB director general and former IGP Benazir Ahmed, new RAB chief DG Barrister Md Harun-Ar-Rashid said that a force will never take responsibility of anyone.

Force will not be held responsible if anyone makes any mistake, said the new DG.

He said that there is no link between anyone’s crime and RAB's image.

He said these things to the journalists after paying his tribune at the mausoleum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in Gopalganj's Tungipara at 3pm on Wednesday.

He also said that law, order, and stability are preconditions for development. Today's police and elite force RAB are among those who accompanied the prime minister on this development journey for law order and stability.

The elite force RAB has a tradition and glorious history in combating narcotics, militancy-terrorism, uprooting of pirates and forest robbers, protection of state order and security, and prevention and control of crime.

He also said that no such incident has happened since the militant attack in 2016. Because there have been effective intelligent-lead operations in several places.

“That's why we didn't have to deal with such a situation anymore. In that case, Bangladesh is now safe to the whole world. In that regard, RAB has an outstanding role in law enforcement.

Md Harun-Ar-Rashid took charge as director general of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) on Wednesday.

He replaces former RAB chief M Khurshid Hossain, who went on retirement.

A gazette notification of the Public Security Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs was issued on May 29 in this regard.

Md Harun-Ar-Rashid started his career as assistant superintendent of police from the 15th BCS batch in 1995 and served in different capacities, including as deputy inspector general of the Mymensingh range in 2019.

Harun, son of Ahmed Ali, obtained his MSc degree from Dhaka University’s statistics department in 1994.

He also completed his LLB from the University of London in 2009 and MBA from Dhaka University in 2016.
