Awami League vows to build forts to resist BNP’s hartal

BNP held a destructive program
Awami League leaders have accused the BNP of carrying out destructive programs in the name of mega rallies.
They said where the ruling party is holding peace rallies, the BNP is causing destruction to thwart the next election.
They added that Awami League leaders will build forts in the neighbourhoods on Sunday and resist the hartal BNP has called.
The leaders made the comments while addressing a peace and development rally of Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Awami League at the south gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Saturday.
Awami League Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam said: "In the last 15 years, we have not held such important programs like today (Saturday) before. Today they (BNP) have carried out a dangerous program. We are holding peace rallies.”
Meanwhile, Awami League Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim said: "BNP has started an illegal process to kill democracy. They attacked the police. They attacked the chief justice's residence. We have to resist these terrorists.”
The peace and development rally of Awami League started around 1:30pm on Saturday at the south gate of the Baitul Mukarram mosque in the capital.
The party's General Secretary Obaidul Quader joined the rally as the chief guest at the gathering.
