Water of seven rivers above danger level

Heavy rain predicted to continue for the next two days
Due to heavy rain, seven rivers in the country are now flowing above the danger level. The water level of the Surma River is particularly high, exceeding the maximum danger level by 80cm.
The Meteorological Department has forecast that heavy rain will continue for the next two days.
According to the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre, the Brahmaputra and Jamuna rivers are rising and are expected to continue rising over the next 72 hours, possibly reaching the danger level at some points.
Similarly, the water levels in the Ganges and Padma rivers are also increasing and are expected to continue rising for the next 48 hours.
In the north-eastern part of the country, except for the Surma River, water levels in the main rivers are rising and are expected to continue rising for the next 24 hours.
Meteorological agencies have predicted moderate to heavy rainfall in the north-eastern and adjacent uplands over the next 24 hours, with heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in the northern and upland areas over the next 24 to 48 hours.
The flood situation in some low-lying areas of Netrakona, Sylhet, and Sunamganj districts may remain stable in the next 24 hours.
In contrast, the situation in the low-lying areas of Moulvibazar and Habiganj districts along the Manu and Khwai rivers may improve.
In the next 48 hours, water levels in the Dudhkumar, Teesta, and Dharla rivers in the northern part of the country are expected to rise, potentially causing short-term flooding in some low-lying areas of Kurigram, Lalmonirhat, and Rangpur districts.
The water at the Dalia Point of the Teesta River may also cross the danger level in the short term.
The rivers currently above the danger level include Teesta, Surma, Kushiara, Manu, Khoai, Old Surma, and Someshwari.
The maximum recorded rainfall in the last 24 hours was 136mm in Cooch Behar.
The Meteorological Department reports that the extension of western low pressure is extending from West Bengal to the Northwest Bay of Bengal, with the monsoon being active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over the northern Bay of Bengal.
The forecast for the next 24 hours from 9am on Thursday indicates that light to moderate rain or thundershowers with gusty winds may occur in most parts of the Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions, with moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas.
The forecast for the next 24 hours from 9am on Friday predicts similar conditions, with most places in the Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions and many places in the Rajshahi, Dhaka, and Barisal divisions experiencing light to moderate rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty winds, and moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas.
Moderate to heavy rain may continue in some parts of the country on Saturday.
In the last 24 hours, the highest rainfall recorded was 153mm in Panchagarh, with Sylhet and Habiganj recording 110mm of rain each.
