Muzharul Mannan succeeds Saima Wazed at Shuchona Foundation

Dr Muzharul Mannan is a neurologist


Dr Muzharul Mannan has succeeded Saima Wazed at Shuchona Foundation, Bangladesh as the chairperson. 

Saima Wazed, daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, was the founder of this non-profit foundation that works to help people with mental disability, neurological disability, autism, and mental health issues.

She became the regional director of the World Health Organization (WHO) in the Southeast Asia region.

Dr Mannan, a neurologist, was also a founding member of the foundation.

Announcing his new role, Shuchona Foundation says Dr Mannan brings “a wealth of experience, passion, and commitment to our organization's goals, and we are confident that he will lead us to new heights.”

Born in 1970 in Dhaka, Dr Mannan studied medicine at Semmelweis Medical University, Budapest. He had his postgraduate training in Singapore and London.

He joined Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) as a consultant neurologist at the Department of Neurology and as a training coordinator at Centre for Neurodevelopment and Autism in Children (CNAC) in 2009. 

CNAC became the Institute of Paediatric Neurodisorder and Autism (IPNA), BSMMU in 2015.

He is the secretary general of Bangladesh Epilepsy Foundation, the Epilepsy Association of Bangladesh and the South East Asian Commission for Epilepsy of The International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE).
