Miscreants set fire to toll plazas at Shahid Rafique Bridge in Savar

Miscreants have set fire to the toll plazas and other facilities at the Shahid Rafique Bridge on the Manikganj-Singair road in Savar, demanding the permanent cessation of toll collection.

The incident took place around 10am on Thursday, when protesters brought out a procession over their demand. 

The matter was confirmed by Singair police station Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Mosharraf Hossain.

He said under the banner of the Qawmi Student Council of Dhalla Union in Singair upazila and with the participation of local residents, the demonstration took place.

Following the rally, the protesters vandalized and set fire to four toll plazas and other establishments in the Tetuljhora area.

As a result, traffic on the Manikganj-Singair and Hemayetpur regional highways was disrupted.

To mitigate the inconvenience to passengers, students and locals restored the vehicle movement.
