Army officer stabbed to death by robbers in Cox’s Bazar

An officer of the Bangladesh Army was stabbed to death by robbers during an operation in Cox's Bazar's Chakaria upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjhon (BA-11453).
The matter has been confirmed by Lieutenant Colonel Sami-Ud-Dowla Chowdhury, director of Inter-Services Public Relations.
During the operation in Maizpara village, a group of robbers attempted to flee upon detecting the presence of the army patrol. Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjhon chased after a few members of the robber group.
At around 4am, the army officer was critically injured when robbers hacked him in the neck. He was immediately rescued and taken to Malumghat Memorial Christian Hospital, where the on-duty doctor pronounced him dead.
During the operation, three members of the robber group were arrested.
Lieutenant Tanjim Sarwar Nirjhon was born into a respected Muslim family in Tangail district. The officer completed his higher secondary education from Pabna Cadet College and was commissioned into the Army Service Corps (ASC) on June 8, 2022, after graduating from the Bangladesh Military Academy as part of the 82nd Long Course.
