Police have thwarted a march of Bangladesh Jatiotabadi Mohila Dal, the women’s wing of the BNP, organized on the occasion of International Women's Day.
Mohila Dal leaders and activists gathered in front of the BNP central office in Naya Paltan on Friday around 10am.
After a short rally, Mohila Dal’s march could not go ahead due to police obstruction.
BNP Standing Committee Member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury spoke as the chief guest at the rally before the march.
The rally was chaired by Mohila Dal President Afroza Abbas and moderated by General Secretary Sultana Ahmed.
Additional forces were deployed in Naya Palton and its surrounding areas ahead of Mohila Dal's rally.
