Planning Minister MA Mannan said Bangladesh has no reserve crisis and, according to the World Bank report, its economy is performing better than India and Pakistan.
“This year our GDP will be 6.5. The latest reports from the IMF and the World Bank state that Bangladesh's economy is in a stronger position than India and Pakistan," he said on Sunday in Sunamganj.
"There is no reserve crisis in the country, and changes in the reserve amount are not a concern," he further said.
Regarding BNP’s movement the minister said: "If any act of sabotage is done, the administration will look into it. People know who is inciting others and talking about sabotage.”
This is the 12th such blockade called by the opposition parties since October 31, and the first since the announcement of BNP’s non-cooperation movement against the government on December 20.
The blockade began at 6am and will end at 6pm on Sunday. The presence of public transport and commuters on Dhaka streets seemed normal, despite tension and fear of arson attacks.
