CEC vows tough action if electoral code of conduct violated

Law enforcement agencies directed to take immediate action
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has warned that strict legal action will be taken if the electoral code of conduct is violated.
He told this to reporters after exchanging views with the candidates of the six parliamentary constituencies of Rajshahi at Rajshahi Circuit House on Wednesday afternoon.
The CEC said that if there is any violation of the code of conduct, the law enforcement agencies have been directed to take immediate action.
He underscored the importance of transparency in ensuring a fair election and expressed confidence that with the collective efforts of everyone involved, the election would be successful.
Furthermore, CEC Awal conveyed the importance of candidates' cooperation in upholding the principles of a free, fair, and acceptable election.
He urged candidates to follow the code of conduct, maintain cordial relationships, and contribute to creating a conducive environment for healthy competition.
During the discussion meeting, the CEC acknowledged the sincerity of the candidates while addressing some existing challenges.
He assured journalists that the Election Commission, along with the candidates and voters' efforts, is committed to delivering a fair election.
Earlier in the day, candidates had the opportunity to voice various concerns and complaints in a meeting with the CEC, who promptly directed officials to take immediate action on these matters.
