Aspirants had claimed GM Quader has connection with the govt

Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader said he would reveal what happened inside the party during the 12th parliamentary election on Saturday’s extended meeting.

GM Quader will also give directives about the future strategy of the party leaders and activists at the meeting to be held at the Engineering Institution in the capital on Saturday.

“We held extended meetings even before the election. Now I'm holding another one. Our leaders and activists discussed many issues in the previous extended meeting. Those issues will be discussed. During the 12th parliamentary election, many confusions were created about the party, I will talk about them,” he said on Friday.

Before the January 7 election, the Jatiya Party candidates, whose nominations were rejected, claimed that GM Quader was elected as the leader of the opposition because he had a “connection” with the government.

On February 18, at a press conference organized by Rowshan Ershad, Syed Abu Hossain Babla, hinting at GM Quader, said: "There is a person for whom his wife is more important than the party."

However, after such a statement, Babla was expelled from the party.

On March 9, another faction was formed under the leadership of Jatiya Party Chief Patron Rowshan Ershad.

GM Quader-led Jatiya Party faced its first split through the conference held at the Institute of Engineering in the capital. The Jatiya Party, founded by former President Hussain Muhammad Ershad, has been split at least six times.

In this regard, GM Quader said he would listen to the opinions of the leaders and activists at the extended meeting on Saturday and give instructions to them about the next day.

Regarding the upcoming Upazila Parishad election, GM Quader said: "Now only one person wins. People's trust in election is declining. There are a limited number of Jatiya Party leaders and activists participating in the upazila elections.”

“Let's see if the government makes any changes. There must be hope. People cannot live without hope,” he added.

Jatiya Party Chairman's Press Secretary Khandaker Delwar Jalali said GM Quader will address the inaugural ceremony of the extended meeting slated for Saturday.

Jatiya Party Secretary General Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu will inaugurate the meeting.
