Police have detained Dabirul Islam, a former Awami League lawmaker of Thakurgaon-2 constituency.
He was apprehended from the residence of Ruhia upazila Awami League leader Alamgir Hossain in Thakurgaon Sadar around 2:30am on Thursday (Oct 3), said Thakurgaon Superintendent of Police Sheikh Jahidul Islam.
He said that Dabirul was arrested in a case filed with Baliadangi Police Station. He is the main accused in the case.
There are two cases of extortion, land grabbing, and murder against the former parliamentarian. He was the main accused in both cases.
