Passenger bus collides with the pickup van
Eight people including five members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) on patrol duty before the election were injured as a pickup van carrying them collided with a passenger bus in Palashbari upazila in Gaibandha district on Friday morning.
The injured people were rescued and admitted to Palashbari Upazila Health Complex.
The accident took place at Ricemill area of the upazila around 11am.
Quoting locals, police said that the Gaibandha-bound passenger bus JR Paribahan collided head-on with the pickup van carrying BGB coming towards Palashbari.
The front of the bus was smashed and the pickup was damaged.
On information, the police and fire service personnel went to the spot, rescued the injured, and admitted them to the hospital.
Arju Sajjad, officer-in-charge of Palashbari Police Station, confirmed the matter.
At the same time, the damaged bus and pickup have been removed from the road.
The OC could not immediately confirm the details identity of the injured.
