Agriculture Minister: Govt will fix Paddy price

The Agriculture Minister Abdus Shahid has said that the official price of rice will be determined in a meeting at the ministry.

Minister Abdus Shahid inaugurated the harvesting of paddy at the village of Bahadurpur of Sadar Upazila in Sunamganj on Friday and said: “ It will protect the interests of farmers. The government is keeping a watchful eye that no one can create a syndicate and reduce the price of paddy to the detriment of the farmers.

“An adequate number of paddy harvesting machines have been provided. There will be no crisis of the machine. The current government is agrarian-friendly. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working for the welfare of farmers,” he added.

Later, the minister handed over the keys of the combined harvester to the farmers. After handing over the keys, he attended the discussion meeting.

Former planning minister MA Mannan, Member of Parliament for Sunamganj-4 Constituency Mohammad Sadiq, Member of Parliament for Sunamganj-1 Constituency Ranjit Chandra Sarkar, Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources Nazmul Ahsan, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture Malay Chowdhury, Director General of the Department of Agriculture Badal Chandra Biswas were present on the discussion meeting.
