BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Saturday launched a youth march in Rangpur in support of the party's one-point movement.

He said the leaders and activists of the BNP will remain on the streets until they can bring down the Awami League government.

“The people of the country no longer want to see Sheikh Hasina in power and want her to step down and hold elections under a non-party neutral government,” he said after inaugurating the youth road march in front of the local BNP office in Rangpur city at 11:15am.

Addressing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the senior opposition leader said: "Sheikh Hasina, if you do not resign immediately, if you do not give up power to a non-party government, millions of people will be swept away by the wave that has been created across the country.”

In addition to the BNP, the government will be established in collaboration with all participating political parties. Through a 31-point movement, the parties will aim to eradicate corruption and exploitation from the country, he added.

Mirza Fakhrul said that the government is not allowing BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to seek medical treatment abroad, knowing that her treatment is not possible in Bangladesh.

He added that the government is not letting Tarique Rahman return to Bangladesh by filing false cases against him.

On Friday, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced that its affiliates Chhatra Dal and Jubo Dal as well as its metropolitan units will hold youth marches in Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions.

The marches are aimed at advocating the party's one-point demand and the restoration of voting rights of the youth.

In addition, the BNP is set to unveil a series of simultaneous programs on September 18.

The programs are part of the party's movement aimed at ousting the Awami League administration from power.
