At least 27 fishermen from Hatia, Noakhali, are still missing after a trawler sank in the Bay of Bengal last Friday.

Six trawlers have not yet returned to the docks, and there has been no contact with them.
Till Saturday afternoon, 11 trawler sinking incidents had been reported.

During these incidents, trawlers in the sea have successfully rescued nearly 100 fishermen.

The Upazila Fisheries Officer’s office is currently collecting information on the trawler sinking incidents.

Upazila Fisheries Officer Fahad Hasan said that over the past two days, both small and large trawlers have sunk at various docks and riverbanks in Hatia. Most of the crews managed to swim ashore or were rescued by other trawlers.

However, he has information that one fisherman from Nijhum Island and four from Amatli dock are still missing.

Acting Upazila Nirbahi Officer Milton Chakma said that the Coast Guard is actively working to rescue the missing fishermen.
