Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has revised the prices of gold for the sixth consecutive time as the cost of pure gold falls on the local market.

It cut the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 1,115 per bhori (11.664g). This means each carat of top-quality gold will now cost Tk 111,461, BAJUS said in a statement.

The new revised prices will be effective at 4pm today (April 29). It will remain in effect until further notice.

Meanwhile, each bhori of 21-carat gold will cost Tk 106,399, while 18-carat gold’s price now stands at Tk 91,201.

The traditional gold price has been set at Tk 75,839.

BAJUS has been frequently revising gold and silver prices in recent weeks. This year, it has already done it more than a dozen times arguing that the global market is unstable because of conflicts and tensions.

The price of gold often rises at times of uncertainty as it is seen as a safe investment.

BAJUS has revised the prices 16 times this year. It ‘adjusted’ the prices 29 times last year.
